Virtue
In the coming weeks I will be discussing seven things God's word commands us to add to our character from 2 Peter 1:5-8. (I
will using the King James Bible unless notes.)
2 Peter 1:5-8; And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge
temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly
kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in
the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is the charge to add these things to our life. The word “add” means in addition to God’s great salvation—right alongside
of what God has done—add these things.

And give all diligence to adding them. Hasten, jump, run, act now to add them; do not wait. Be energetic and earnest,  work to
add these things to your faith and salvation. The night is far pass the day is at hand.

Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is
a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God say we already have faith we believe now let us go father.

The first thing this list tells us to add is virtue “virtue” : moral excellence and goodness of character; moral strength and moral
courage. moral: concerned with principles of right and wrong or conforming to standards of behavior and character based on
those principles. It means manliness; being an excellent person in life, a real man or a real woman in life; living life just like
one should, in the most excellent way.
It means always choosing the excellent way.
Look at Acts 6:3 When the first Deacons were chose the instructions were to look among yourselves  for men of honest
report, full of the Holy Ghost. Look for men of virtue who are good men in and out of the Church. Check with their families,
check with their neighbors. What are they during, are they working for the Lord.
When looking at women there is only one passage that comes to mind and that is Proverbs 31.

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.  11 (a) The heart of her husband doth
safely trust in her, 12  She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 (b) worketh willingly with her hands.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a
field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17  She girdeth her loins with strength, and
strengtheneth her arms. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21  She is
not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 23  Her husband is known in the gates,
when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; 26 She openeth her mouth with
wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.  27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread
of idleness. 28  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.  29  Many daughters have
done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD,
she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Look at the woman whose husband safely trust her because he knows she will do him good. God needs men and women who
are not wrapped up  in themselves. We should not do or act right when we are in Church or when someone is watching but at
all times.
Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if
there be any praise, think on these things.
Think on these things and we can all do it, if not God never would have told us to do so.
Virtue is that character trace that comes from the heart, you do right because that is what is in you.  There is good in us all, so
reach down into your spirit and let God arise...

* when God arise you will find peace within yourselves
* when God arise you think good thoughts
* when God arise you can love your enemy
* when God arise joy spring forth from your heart
* when God arise your days will be filled with the bright  sunshine
When you can let God arise the virtuous person you are will show up for all the world to and you will love yourself.
